PredictionProbe Released UNIPASS™ 4.4

PredictionProbe has announced on 10/15/02 the release of UNIPASSTM version 4.4, the newest version of its renowned probabilistic assessment software. UNIPASS™ V4.4 is fully validated and tested software that can be operated by a non-statistician using a desktop computer.

Combining an advanced and powerful feature set with an easy-to-use Windows interface, UNIPASS™ is acclaimed for the precision and accuracy of its results. It provides the largest number of probabilistic computational methods of any product available, along with more analysis types and Most Probable Point (MPP) identification methods. It allows the selection of over 37 statistical distribution types for input random variables, and includes a library of over 61 functions, including user-defined. The new version offers an advanced simulation-based MPP search method, enhanced graphic functions and refinements to the interface with multi external solvers without any coding, in response to user requests.

Easy Ways to Interface with Multiple Software Systems Simultaneously

The UNIPASS™ interface modules allow simultaneous communication with multiple software systems. While enhancing the capabilities of these software systems, UNIPASS™ minimizes the number of deterministic software runs needed to perform Probabilistic Analysis. The existing interface options include:

  •  Generic Interface: This interface, without any coding, allows simultaneous integration with one or more commercial and/or in-house software systems with multiple input/output files

  •  Customized Interface: This interface allows simultaneous integration with one or more commercial and/or in-house software systems with multiple non-standardized input/output files

  •  System Command Interface: This interface provides a flexible and robust alternative to Generic and Customized Interface to integrate with one or more commercial and/or in-house software systems with multiple input/output files

  •  MSC/NASTRAN Interface: This interface provides for performing probabilistic finite element analysis using MSC/NASTRAN finite element code (interface with other finite element software may be established using other interface options)

What are new in Version 4.4 Compared to Version 4.3?

The new features provided by Version 4.4 compared with Version 4.3 are summarized below:

  • Added discrete distributions

  • Added all truncated distributions in the help manual.

  • Corrected the names of random variables on the horizontal axis in U-space in the sensitivity plot for dependent variables.

  • Fixed the problem of table presentation in GUI HTML output file for the case of random variables’ name with upper case characters.

  • Removed the bugs for the uniform distribution input method 5  and 6.

  • Modified UNIPASS GUI for correct hyperlink in the output HTML file.

  • Removed the bug of suddenly drop to zero in the PDF/CDF plots for the Monte Carlo simulation method.

  • Improved the stability in the PDF/CDF plots for the case when two MPPs are very close.

  • Improved the accuracy for the Nataf model with high correlation coefficients.

  • Changed the default background color of plots such that they are clearer for the black/white printers.

  • Solved the numerical difficulty in the probability transformation between X and U spaces for the case of in Beta distribution.

  •  Removed the hyperlink error in the HTML file for 1st order series system sensitivity analysis.

  •  Removed the bug for the option of long print out in U-Space X-Linearized MPPL Method.

  • Modified UNIPASS to print an error message if no EXTERNAL.IN is created before running UNIPASS with generic external interface option.
